What is a Maker Space?
Maker spaces are studios and labs designed for students to pursue projects of their choosing that combine design, technology and art. There are makerspaces found in schools. libraries, and other community centers.
We introduce young children to the home based maker space with demonstrations and hands on activities that include STEAM topics as well as the arts.
Methods
Our workshops are backed by data about how children learn, and have been taught in schools around the world, and now are live for students to learn at home!
Workshop
Workshop sizes are small. We place a maximum of 10 students to one instructor. In addition, guardians/educators can access detailed reports and portfolio reviews to track your child/student’s progress.
Each workshop is 1 week long, broken up into 2 hour days. Students will receive 45 minutes of instructor time, a break, and 1 hour of student project work with the instructor there as a point of reference.
1:1 support happens during this time as well.
All sessions are for students aged 6 - 12 and have no prerequisites - students don’t need any experience to take part in camp! Please note that our lessons are designed for students in grades K-2 to complete with a caregiver and for students in grades 3-8 to complete independently.
Before you start, we recommend that families build a toolkit, and supplies of basic craft materials, household recyclables or order a kit through us and have materials sent to your home.
