MICRO:BIT
Why Micro:bit?
Encouraging computer programming and engineering at a young age is important. We need more students to enter into STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) career paths in the future. Micro:bit is a wonderful place to start, this interactive board is programmable, interacts with the world and is so much fun.
Designed by the BBC, the Micro:bit was launched in 2015, with a goal to support young people learning computer programming and physical computing. The BBC made an initial launch of providing a Micro:bit to every child in Year 7 (ages 11-12) across the UK, for free. Since then the Micro:bit foundation had been traveling all around the world.

I sure wish the United States Department of Education would commit to having this really important tool available to teachers and for the future population by making a similar investment into our public schools. While it is great to have large companies lead this mission such a Microsoft via MakeCode:
As a parent and educator we need to make to call for our communities.
